Amish 5-piece Bedroom Sets

Although our Amish-crafted furniture pieces are all sold individually, to be mixed and matched for your needs, there are still some traditional groupings that work well in many homes and lifestyles. One of these groupings is the 5-piece bedroom set, which typically consists of a bed, dresser, mirror, chest, and nightstand.

Dresser

The first piece in the standard 5-piece bedroom set is a dresser. Dressers are long case pieces with usually three or four rows of drawers. Dressers are built around waist-height to attach a mirror. Most of our bedroom collections offer at least two dresser heights. Low dressers are around 30” high and typically have three rows of drawers, tall dressers are usually closer to 40” high.

The Brooklyn Bedroom is shown in rustic cherry

Tall dresser: 66”W x 20 1/4”D x 43 1/4”H

Mirror: 57”W x 32”H

Chest of drawers: 39”W x 20 1/4”D x 53”H

2-Drawer nightstand: 21 1/2”W x 20 1/4”D 26 1/4”H

Additionally, some collections offer different widths, most often on the low dresser. The widest dressers often add a door in the middle with smaller drawers behind it.

The Victoria's Tradition Bedroom is shown in cherry

Long dresser: 72”W x 19”D x 37”H

Tri-fold mirror: 57”W x 51”H

Armoire: 39”W x 19”D x 68”H

3-Drawer nightstand: 24”W x 19”D x 27”H

Mirror

Dressers are built low to accommodate a mirror for use while dressing or grooming. The mirrors are traditionally attached to the back of the dresser. Tall mirrors are often used on low dressers, while wide mirrors, also called landscape mirrors, are common on tall dressers. These mirrors can be simple rectangles, or may be embellished with crown, arch, scallop, or pediment.

The Traditional Bedroom is shown in cherry

Pediment mirror: 52”W x 34 1/4”H

Double dresser: 61 3/4”W x 20 3/4”D x 33”H

Lingerie chest: 26 ‘W x 20 3/4”D x 52”H

1-Drawer 1-door nightstand: 20”W x 20 3/4”D x 27 3/4”H

Mirrors are sold separately from the dressers, so it’s easy to upgrade or switch styles. For a more formal and traditional look, tri-fold mirrors are popular and allow you to view your reflection from more angles.

The Bridge Bay Bedroom is shown in oak

Tri-fold mirror: 52”W x 45”H

Double dresser: 66”W x 19”D x 32”H

Armoire: 41”W x 20”D x 75”H

3-Drawer nightstand: 24”W x 19”D x 26”H

More contemporary bedrooms are being designed with mirrors hung on the wall, instead of mounted on the dresser. This allows for more options, including round or alternative shapes, or multiple mirrors as a focal point.

The Park Avenue Bedroom is shown in brown maple

Dresser: 66”W x 19 1/2”D x 34 1/2”H

Beveled mirrors: 20”W x 42”H each

2-Drawer nightstand: 26”W x 17 1/2”D x 30”H

Garment Tower: 18” sq. x 72”H

Chest of drawers

Chests of drawers vary from dressers in that they are taller, but typically not as wide. Also regularly called bureaus, these case pieces have typically one column of 5-7 drawers. While dressers are designed for both storage and use while dressing, a chest of drawers has more storage but doesn’t accommodate a mirror for dressing.

The Hyland Park Bedroom is shown in brown maple

Chest of Drawers: 38”W x 19 3/4”D x 52”H

Mule dresser: 56”W x 19 3/4”D x 42”H

Round mirror: 36” diam.

3-Drawer nightstand: 24”W x 17 1/4”D x 30”H

The tallest chests of drawers are often built as two-piece units, usually a base of two drawers with a finished top with another piece consisting of around 5 drawers set on top. Instead of having one large, heavy piece of furniture, these two pieces are smaller, lighter, and more manageable for delivery & moving. These pieces are known as chest on chests.

The Crown Villa Bedroom is shown in oak

Chest on chest: 38”W x 20”D x 60”H

Dresser: 71”W x 20 1/4”D x 35”H

1-Drawer, 1-door nightstand: 21 1/4”W x 18 1/4”D x 26 1/4”H

Nightstands

Set next to the bed, a nightstand acts as a space to place a lamp, store your books, or toss your glasses. One of the great things about our bedroom sets is that each collection has up to four nightstand configurations, allowing you to choose what’s right for your storage needs, space, and budget.

Bed

We always talk about our ability to mix and match our furniture to build the right set for you, unique to your style, taste, and budget. When considering a new bedroom suite, we encourage you to consider the options available outside the one or two suggested styles in the collection. The best bedroom designs use the bed as a focal point. Our experienced staff will help guide you through the styles, for a look that’s unique while still balanced and coordinated.
