Modular Office Furniture: Clever and Changeable Work Solutions

Designing the perfect home office suite can be quite a challenge for many homeowners. It can be tough to figure out how to fit the right amount of work surface and storage into your home office. Add in the fact that many home offices must pull double-duty, often as guest rooms, or tucked into dens, and the challenge of finding just the right set for your small space can be daunting!

In these cases, the versatility of a modular office set can be a game changer. By choosing free-standing pieces that can be arranged & rearranged to your likings, you can fit what you need, where you need it, and rearrange whenever you see fit! And, since it’s handcrafted by our Amish builders, you get to choose your wood and stain, plus mix and match additional pieces – chairs, bookcases, or even beds and bedroom furniture.

We carry two styles of freestanding modular office systems. One is a simple mission style, with very straight styling and inset flat-panel doors & drawers. Because it is so simple, you can really change the style with different finishes & hardware. The other is the Arlington style, which is a bit more detailed, with beveled panels and fluted legs. You can see the Arlington style on display in our showroom in the Pittsburgh Mills mall.

To start planning your modular office, start with the desks or work surfaces. The modular table desks come 48” wide or 60” wide. Both sizes feature a keyboard pull-out – the 60” size also includes two small pencil drawers – and have finished backs, for placement in the middle of the room. For more storage, you can choose a credenza at 48” wide or 60” wide and top it with an optional matching hutch. For corners & changes in direction, you can choose a corner table, which is a simple square, finished on all sides with a shelf underneath, or a corner desk, which has angled sides and fits between two square pieces at a 45 degree angle.

These collections offer a great mix of enclosed storage space and open table desks for ultimate versatility. The table desks feature pencil drawers and keyboard pull-outs, while the credenzas and hutches offer file drawers, mail sorters, and adjustable shelves behind closed doors. For additional storage, you can mix and match bookcases and file cabinets. Both of these modular office collections feature a smart rolling file cabinet, which is designed to tuck neatly under the table desks.
